Moonlit adventures in St. Louis
A unique evening is on tap in St. Louis, involving paddling, enjoying nature, and relaxing.
Big Muddy Adventures is the host for its “Full Moon Adventures,” outings that take place to coincide with the appearance of the full moon. On the designated day, early in the evening, attendees will meet their guide, who will help them get aboard a 29-foot-long “voyageur” canoe. After paddling a short distance, perhaps on the Muddy Mississippi itself, guests will arrive at an uninhabited island just at sunset.
Once there, they will have time to look for arrowheads, examine the beach, spot eagles and other fauna, or just sit and relax. In the meantime, the host organization will prepare a “campfire gourmet dinner,” which will be eaten around the campfire as everyone sits and shares stories. Finally, guests will paddle back to the take out point beneath a full moon, and are sure to remember the evening for years to come.
The trip begins between 2.00 pm and 5.00 pm, depending on what time the sunset is, and the location of the starting point depends on which rivers the attendees will be paddling. However, the location will not be more than 45 minutes from the St. Louis downtown. All paddling and safety gear will be provided, along with guides, a shuttle to the starting point, and the dinner.
A Full Moon Float is scheduled for October 30. Flyer printing can be used to create useful handouts for participants at events like this.
