Orchestra presents second performance of season

The St. Louis Civic Orchestra, which resides in Chesterfield, will be performing its second concert of its 2017-2018 classical repertoire season in February.

The orchestra is a non-profit organization comprised of 75 local professional and volunteer musicians who come together under the direction of Maestro Edward Dolbashian to produce classical works for their own enjoyment and for the community. This performance will be Tchaikovsky’s No. 5.

Maestro Dolbashian has been with the orchestra since 2002 and serves as the musical director also. Along with conducting the St. Louis Civic Orchestra he also directs the orchestras at the University of Missouri at Columbia and conducts over 30 concerts every year. Paul Huppert the orchestra’s concertmaster is also the Illinois Symphony orchestra’s principal second violinist and associate concertmaster of the Seminary Series’ Bach.

In addition to the three regular performances, the orchestra presents a Christmas holiday pops concert and an outdoor concert in May. The next regular classical performance will be Sunday, April 22nd starting at 3 pm. That performance will be Dvorak’s No. 6.

This second performance of the St. Louis Civic Orchestra will be Saturday, February 17th from 7 pm until 10:00 at the William D. Purser, DC Center, Logan University 1851 Schoettler Road, Chesterfield. Tickets are $18 each and available on the orchestra’s website.
