Local park presents food, Santa, and butterflies

It will soon be the last chance for Chesterfield children to have supper with Santa, before he has to get ready for his worldwide trip.

This annual event at the park will bring together the spirit of the holidays with the beauty of nature, as the children experience the magic of Christmas mixed with the wonder of butterflies.

Santa’s Workshop will provide work stations for the children to make crafts, including keepsake ornaments. There will also be storytelling and face painting. Everyone can remember the occasion by getting pictures taken in the photo booth.

Pictures will be printed on commemorative bookmarks, but the one picture that will be the most important one will be the complimentary souvenir taken with the children and Santa himself. Postcard printing may have to be done after the holidays in time for next year. Visitors may take a night stroll through the Conservatory to see the myriad chrysalises and butterflies as they ready for Christmas.

Reservations will be required and admission runs $20 per nonmember and $15 per member, which includes a meal, hot cocoa, and cookies. Children who are a year old or younger will get in free. Seating is limited.

This event will take place at the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Butterfly House in Faust Park, 15193 Olive Blvd, Chesterfield, on December 21 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
