Purser Center at Chesterfield's Logan University will be welcoming a pops concert, and the 19th Annual Smooth Jazz Concert in early August.
"From the Heart of America" will be the theme of this year's annual St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra's Pop Concert under the baton of guest conductor, Christopher Kelts. The program will include music from Oklahoma, The American Frontier, Saving Private Ryan and older works such as St. Louis Blues, Dvorak's New World Symphony and the Stars and Stripes Forever.
There will be a raffle for a winner to play the cannon (bass drum) in the evening's performance of the 1812 Overture, and another one for playing the whipcrack during Sleigh Ride at the Holiday Pops concert.
General admission will be $20 and reserved seating will be $30.
The St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra "From the Heart of America" annual Pops Concert will take place Friday, August 1st beginning at 7:30 pm.
The following Saturday, the Center will feature the 19th Annual Smooth Jazz Concert Emeralds & Diamonds presented by Marvin F. Cockrell and Focus. General Admission will be $50 and VIP, which comes with 4:00 pm entry, will be $75.
The 19th Annual Smooth Jazz Concert will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Saturday, August 9th. The Purser Center is located at 1851 Schoettler Road.
