Chesterfield has three events scheduled to celebrate Independence Day this year.
The first event will be the 3rd Annual Stars and Stripes 5K/10K and Fun Run.
The one-hour 5k and 10K will begin at 8:30 am on Sunday, July 4 at Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex (CVAC), 17925 North Outer 40 Road. Awards will be handed out to the best overall female and male finishers, as well as winners in each of the eight age groups.
Fun Run participants will receive medals, with this part of the event taking place at 6:00 pm at CVAC.
Between the 5K/10K race and the Fun Run, the Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center will offer its annual Star Spangled Swim from noon until 6:30 pm. Pool admission will be $2 off.
Starting at 6:30, gates will open for the 4th of July Fireworks Celebration back at the CVAC. The event will be free and kids can enjoy the Circus Kaput kids’ zone. Food trucks will be onsite selling summer treats. Groovethang will perform from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, after which the fireworks display will begin. Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.
Cities that offer free events such as this often have photos taken during the festivities. These pictures can then be taken to local Print shops to be inserted in the following year’s visitor’s guides.
