In a couple of weeks, people here in Chesterfield interested in fitness will be gearing up for the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce 16th Annual Gumbo Flats Pumpkin Run/Walk.
This event comprises a 5K, 10K and a half-mile kids’ fun run for those children 10 years of age and under. Costumes are encouraged.
Runners who sign up early will receive long-sleeved shirts. Kids participating in the Children’s Fun Run will receive T-Shirts.
All 10K and 5K finishers will receive commemorative fidget spinner medals. First, second, and third place awards will be given to both male and female winners. Those who finish the kids’ fun run will get completion awards. Many family members and friends of the winners will no doubt have pictures taken for later poster printing and family Calendars.
The out and back 5K and 10K course is said to be flat and fast.
Wings of Hope will be the recipient of the proceeds from this year’s event. This nonprofit organization provides aviation medical transport, funds health, economic, and educational programs and takes food to areas around the world.
The Annual Gumbo Flats Pumpkin Run/Walk is scheduled for October 21. The 5K/10K runs will kick off at 8:00 am, and the Half-Mile Children’s Fun Run will begin at 9:00 am at Chesterfield Towne Centre in Chesterfield Valley, at the intersection of Edison Avenue and Long Road.
