Nonprofits who serve Chesterfield youth are banding together to celebrate youth and raise awareness of services and programs available through their organizations. Along with these organizations, the five-hour event will feature programmed activities and vendors.
The organizers of the Great Saturday for Kids promise the ‘Ultimate Petting Zoo’, and the one-room school house will have feathered friends that kids can pet at its ‘School House Squawk’. Big-eared bunnies will be available for hugs and photos. There will be demonstrations in candle dipping, glass blowing, and soap making. The Village Marketplace will offer hand-made items for sale and guests can visit the Butterfly House and St. Louis Zoo. The venue will also have a carousel and train rides. Kids will have lots of space to roam, bubbles to burst, and things to see and manipulate.
The area will be teeming with crafters, businesses, artists, community groups, sponsors, and local businesses. Self-promotion booths will not be selling anything, but the businesses, organizations or individuals will be handing out Business Cards and Flyers, and meeting and greeting passersby. There will be plenty of food vendors on-site hawking their specialties, including St. Louis’ Greatest Grilled Cheese. The event will also have live entertainment.
The Fifty Roses Foundation will host the event, which takes place on Saturday, April 20 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Faust Park’s Historic Village, 15185 Olive Boulevard.
