The Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 17th Annual Gumbo Flats Pumpkin Run, which will take place in a few weeks. Over 2,000 runners and spectators are expected to attend.
The run will feature both a 5k and a 10k, and there will be a Children’s Fun Run as well. Costumes are encouraged. Those who register between now and October 13 will be guaranteed long-sleeved tech shirts touting the event’s graphic design. All kids who enter the Children’s Fun Run will receive T-Shirts too.
The 5k and 10k courses will both be out-and-backs that will be fast, flat and USATF certified. The Children's Fun Run, which is designed for kids 10 years old and younger, will be a half-mile out-and-back and all finishers will receive completion awards.
The top three finishers of each adult race will receive awards. Separate medals will be given to the top three female and male members who participate in the USATF competition.
This year, Wings of Hope will receive a portion of the proceeds.
The Gumbo Flats Pumpkin Run will begin at the intersection of Long Road and Edison Avenue at the Chesterfield Towne Centre on Saturday, October 20. The 5k and 10k races will start at 8:00 am and the Children’s Fun Run kicks off an hour later at 9:00 am.
