Carnvial to shake off the winter blues

All Chesterfield families are invited to attend the YMCA Winter Carnival this month. The indoor event will be the annual benefit for the local Y.

Three circus performances will be put on by Circus Kaput. Between the shows, children can entertain themselves by jumping in the large inflated bounces, trying their luck at carnival games, and munching on popcorn and cotton candy. Face painting and balloon animals, both being offered by Circus Kaput artists, should also delight the younger set. Pictures could be taken at this event to support the YMCA’s future brochure printing.

The highlight of the evening will be Kids’ Night Out—a part of the event that is exclusively for children from ages 5 to 12 years. The children will be treated to dinner and a circus show put on by the St. Louis-based Circus Kaput. After the show, the Circus will hold a workshop for the little ones. The evening will end with the children putting on a show for the parents.

The carnival will be held Saturday, January 17, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at the West County Family YMCA, 16464 Burkhardt Place, Chesterfield. Kids’ Night Out runs from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and carries an admission fee of $25 for the first child and $15 for each additional child thereafter.
