The Chesterfield Amphitheater will kick off its annual POPS summer musical series this year with a family friendly performance that will be part of what is being called ‘Silver Screen Summer’.
Locals, and anyone else of any age who loves movies and music, are invited to bring themselves and their family to the city’s outdoor venue to listen to and enjoy the sounds of the St. Louis Civic Orchestra, as it plays music from the soundtracks of such movies as Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park, Gladiator, Apollo 13, Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter, Frozen, Star Wars, and Superman.
The evening should prove to be a good opportunity for picture taking for later possible poster printing. The concession stand will be open for business, but attendees are also invited to bring their own dinner (and lawn chairs and blankets) if they wish, though they are asked not to bring glass. If they feel adventurous, they can dress as a character from one of the movies included in the song list. Dancing is also a possibility.
The first performance in the series is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, and will run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at the Amphitheater, 631 Veterans Place Dr. Chesterfield. Admission will be free for everyone, though seating will be ‘first come, first served’, both in the fixed seats and on the lawn.
