Air show returns with expo

Boeing will be bringing its Spirit of St. Louis Air Show, along with a STEM Expo, to Chesterfield in early June.

Performers will include The US NAVY Blue Angels, an F-22, Matt Younkin in his Beech 18, Skip Stewart, the Chuters, an F-35C, and a P-47. Others will be added between now and showtime. Airshows will be presented from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm both days.

Among the 18 static display aircraft will be the Douglas DC-3 B17334, the Grumman TBM Avenger, a P-47, P51-C Mustang, the Lockheed P-38L Lighting, Army L-19 Bird Dog, and F-15E Strike Eagle.

Airshow visitors are advised to wear sunscreen, and bring blankets or camp chairs, binoculars, ear protection, hats, and sunglasses. Since many of areas are not paved, it is advised to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Single admission tickets for Saturday will be $40, while Sunday is $35. Kids 12 years old and younger and active military get in for free. Tickets will only be available online.

The STEM Expo will offer attendees the opportunity to enjoy interactive experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The airshow is presented by a non-profit organization and supported by individual donations, tickets sales, and monetary corporate gifts.

The show and expo will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9, at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport, 18260 Edison Avenue.
