Rain gardens help to protect local waterways and prevent flooding and can look great doing so, and a Plymouth Master Gardener training program will offer a chance for the public to learn more about them.
The program, which was developed back in 2010, has seen hundreds of people learn how to plan and install effective rain gardens, and this fall, both in-person and virtual options will be available. Tours are included with each, and the fee charged depends upon which type is selected.
During the series of five classes, the learners will discover why rain gardens can be helpful in preventing pollution of rivers and streams, and they will be walked, step by step, through the process of designing their own. Encouragement and tips will be provided from those who have already found success with this type of planting, and a self-paced option is on offer for anyone who would like to learn on their own.
By offering a class like this in several formats, the organizers will be able to ensure as many people as possible will be able to participate. Learning materials may be ordered for the sessions from local Print shops.
The in person version of the Master Rain Garden program will be on offer for Plymouth learners starting on October 21, while the virtual one will begin on October 23. Registration links for all three options are posted online.Get a Free Quote for Print
