Soapy session planned for Plymouth public

In days gone by, many households made their own soap from scratch, and a Plymouth area event will bring this practice into the modern age.

The registrants in the soapmaking class scheduled for Northville’s Willow Greenhouse will each walk away with six to eight bars to keep or give as gifts. All ingredients and safety equipment will be provided. Tickets start at $49.87, and several scent options will be available.

The facilitator will teach how to use the cold process method to produce soaps that are natural and gentle, and the soap molds distributed will be for the attendees to keep. Organic add-ins, including clays and other ingredients, will be on offer to incorporate as well. Everyone has been asked to bring an old towel and baking sheet so they can take their soaps home with them at the end of the session.

Soapmaking and other hands-on crafting classes can be a fun way to get creative. Many organizers opt to have recipe cards and other material prepared by Stationery printers to hand out to the attendees, and may choose to have them laminated so they can be wiped clean if needed.

Willow Greenhouse, which is located at 7839 Curtis Road in Northville, will host this in-person session on Saturday, December 13. It will start at 10:00 am and lasts one hour.
