High school athletes in mid-Michigan have had a great year, excelling in all kinds of sports, and will be honored at an upcoming event.
The year has seen high achievements in soccer, football, bowling, and cross-country. Gymnasts even won state championships..
The Lansing State Journal plans to honor the athletes at a gala, which is the first event of its kind. Known as the Greater Lansing Sports Awards, the evening is sponsored by Sparrow Hospital and the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union. Approximately 300 athletes will be honored at a festive evening that includes a keynote speech by Kirk Cousins. He attended Michigan State, and is currently the quarterback for the Washington Redskins.
Athletes who were recognized as part of a Lansing State Journal Dream Team during the last school year will be honored at the event. Those who were part of a Dream Team during this spring will receive their Invitations later in May.
In addition to being named as part of a Dream Team, other awards include best team of the year, and best student-athlete.
The Sports Awards will be held in the Lansing Center on June 7, starting at 6:00 pm. The evening is open to the public.
Event organizers could consider working with a brochure printing company to create a booklet that profiles the athletes and their achievements.
