Chick-fil-A, the fast-food chicken restaurant chain based in Atlanta, is getting set to move into Michigan.
The chain broke ground on April 19 for its first stand-alone location in Michigan. The store is in Lansing, on West Saginaw Highway. There are Chick-fil-A restaurants in all the Midwestern states with the exception of North and South Dakota, according to Kim McGrady, who is the chain's Michigan business consultant. McGrady says it has taken the company some time to be able to move into Michigan, but he believes the Lansing store is a good place to start.
The chain plans to open 15-20 locations in Michigan by 2021. The only other new location confirmed at the moment is for the Somerset Collection, which is an upscale regional shopping mall in Troy, Michigan.
The Lansing store comprises 4,971 square feet, and provides seating for 132. There will be additional seating on the patio, and a drive-thru is also planned. The restaurant will provide as many as 90 new jobs. Both the Lansing location and the one in Troy should be open in fall this year.
The restaurant operator might consider working with a flyer printing company to create a handout, complete with a coupon, to distribute on opening day, and for a few subsequent days, to celebrate the opening and invite new customers to try the store.
