Lansing workshop teaches beginner woodworking techniques

Next month, the Lansing Makers Network will host the Beginner Woodworking - Wine Rack Class for those interested in learning the foundations of woodworking. The Lansing Makers Network is an organization that aims to bring diverse groups of people together who wish to make, create, and learn in a safe and welcoming environment. The network serves to combine art, technology, and culture in exciting new ways and to share tools, resources, and supplies with its members.

The woodworking class happening in May is designed for those individuals who wish to learn the basics of woodworking. No previous knowledge or experience is required to attend the class. The six-hour class will take students through beginner-level woodworking techniques so that they can make a wine rack with a detachable tray on top. Students will learn proper use of a miter saw, table saw, and bandsaw, how to cut curved lines, how to use a spindle sander, and how to use a simple joiner.

Crafting workshops like this may benefit from providing printed instructional materials, such as how-to Posters, that attendees can refer back to if needed. Such Posters can be created in bulk utilizing local poster printing services.

The woodworking class will be held on May 4 beginning at 9:00 am. It will take place at 2730 Alpha Access Drive. Tickets are $90 for members and $100 for non members.
