Lansing theater puts out call for short works

A Lansing theater has put out a call for short plays, and is inviting everyone to participate.

The Ixion Theatre Ensemble is looking for short plays with the theme of “Dreams.” There is no other limitation on the subject; writers can talk about interpreting a dream about banana trees riding the subway or dreaming of winning the Tony. Theater personnel say they would like to hear whatever story about dreams writers would like to share.

There are a few guidelines for submitting a script. The plays cannot have a cast larger than four actors, must have a simple setting, and are to be 15 pages long at the maximum. The authors are asked to include their first initial only, along with their last name, in the header or footer. Although writers may submit multiple works, they are asked not to include biographies. Finally, submissions are to be made via email only, to ixionensemble@gmail.com.

The theater will choose as many as eight scripts and develop them further, presenting some as staged readings while others will be given a full production in May 2021.

The Ixion Theatre Ensemble was founded in 2013 specifically to examine new works and new writers. It puts out a call for plays on a specific theme once a year.

The deadline for submissions is September 30 at 5:00 pm. When professional theaters such as this produce plays, they often find poster printing can be used to create attractive advertising.
