The #TalkingAAC 2022 Conference will be held in Lansing this November to explore topics relating to augmentative and alternative modes of communication.
Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) describes a multimodal method of communication that enables individuals with severe expressive communication disorders to effectively communicate with others. This method includes unaided communication, such as gestures, facial expressions, and sign language, as well as aided communication, such as communication boards, printed words, computers, and speech generating technologies.
Organized by school districts across Michigan, the conference is designed for families, teachers, therapists, staff, and others who are involved in caring for or supporting individuals with complex communication needs. The event will feature a daily keynote presentation that gets at the heart of why AAC is important to individuals with communication impairments. There will also be several 75-minute sessions focusing on different aspects of AAC and allowing opportunity for attendees to discuss their thoughts.
A vendor space will be set up for attendees to learn about new speech technologies, test equipment, and ask questions. Such an event is an example of situations in which participating businesses may decide to increase their supply of Business Cards to reach more potential customers.
The conference is scheduled for November 2 and November 3. It will take place at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center on 219 South Harrison Road, East Lansing. Tickets are $200.
