What's Happening in Bethesda, MD…

Tasty opportunity in Bethesda

People who love to cook, would like to learn to cook, or are just foodies have a treat in store this summer.

Paella is a delicious dish from Spain, and has become popular around the world. The name comes from the pan in which the dish is cooked; the traditional Valencian paella pan is shallow and wide, and the food is cooked over an open flame. Attendees at an upcoming class will learn how to make this fabulous meal.

The class will be held at Jaleo Bethesda, one of the locations of the restaurant chain opened by legendary chef José Andrés. The five Jaleo locations are part of the chef's ThinkFoodGroup, which comprises 31 restaurants. Jaleo Bethesda makes paella every day.

The class will start with a toast with cava, a Spanish sparkling wine, and tapas will be shared before the actual lesson starts. The instructor for the evening is Head Chef Daniel Lugo, who will teach students the skills needed to make the dish, from controlling the heat to selecting the rice to use for the best results.

After cooking, students will move to the dining room to enjoy the meal they have prepared. A house wine will be served, as well as sangria, and dessert will follow.

The cooking class is scheduled for June 23, from 6.30 pm until 9.00 pm, at Jaleo Bethesda, located at 7271 Woodmont Avenue. Flyer printing can create instructions for events like this.
