What's Happening in Bethesda, MD…

Taste of Bethesda coming to downtown

The popular Taste of Bethesda festival is set for the city’s downtown, rain or shine.

Officials have made the announcement that weather would not affect the fun, since last year’s event was canceled due to inclement conditions. Attendees should come prepared dressed in whatever attire they need to stay warm and dry while they enjoy live music, food, and fun.

Around 50 restaurants from the local area are scheduled to participate, and there will be five stages offering entertainment of all kinds, including live music. Children will be able to enjoy arts and crafts, and face painting. The festival is in the Woodmont Triangle, along Auburn, Del Ray, Cordell, St. Elmo, and Norfolk avenues. On average, 40,000 people turn out for the fun.

The restaurants do not serve their entire menus, but instead bring only certain dishes for people to enjoy. For instance, Bethesda Curry Kitchen will be serving palak paneer, butter chicken, basmati rice, and samosas, while the Louisiana Kitchen & Bayou Bar will offer gumbo, étouffée, and jambalaya.

Taste of Bethesda takes place today, October 1, from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm, and admission is free. Tickets to buy food are sold onsite, for $5 for a bundle of four tickets. Servings typically cost between one and four tickets.

Events like these can often be enhanced if organizers work with banner printing companies to create colorful banners to display at the venue to add to the fun.
