Successful baker to open shop in Pike & Rose

The mixed-use neighborhood of Bethesda known as Pike & Rose will have a new tenant soon, as baker Caroline Yi plans to open her Sunday Morning Bakehouse in the area, according to an article in Bethesda Magazine.

Yi sold baked goods successfully at the Pike & Rose farmer’s market this season, leading her to decide to scale up her efforts to a brick-and-mortar café and bakery. Although Yi has worked as a digital marketer, she never lost sight of her first love. After spending time behind a computer, she decided to go ahead with her baking instead.

Yi says she hopes to make the Bakehouse a ‘home away from home’ for her customers, a place where people can meet friends for coffee and a chat, pick up fresh bread on their way home, or enjoy a meal. New businesses like this one can use creative business cards to publicize their products.

The new shop will offer 2,500 square feet of space, and seat up to 30 patrons. The Bakehouse will serve breakfast all day, as well as offering sandwiches at lunchtime. Yi has developed her own recipes including her most recent dish taking inspiration from Elvis Presley – a croissant filled with fresh bananas, crisp bacon, and a filling of roasted peanut. Yi will also serve egg dishes such as omelets.

Yi hopes to have the Bakehouse open by Summer 2019.
