Rock singer/songwriter to play Bethesda
An artist praised for his songwriting talent and live performances is coming to Bethesda.
Ryan Adams is a vocalist, producer, and songwriter who has earned seven Grammy nominations, won two of the UK’s NME awards as “Best Solo Artist,” and released 22 studio albums thus far, dropping “Devolver” as a digital release in 2022.
In addition to his prolific recording career, he was the frontman for Whiskeytown, a rock/alternative country outfit that was active from 1994 to 2000. Their first two albums, “Faithless Street” (1995) and “Stranger’s Almanac” (1997) were traditional country, and the second was a solid hit. Their final effort, “Pneumonia,” came out in 2001 with a more sophisticated pop sound with roots in country music.
In 2004, Adams went onto found another group, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, an alt/rock outfit that made use of his talents as a songwriter as well as a vocalist, leading stars like Elton John to compliment his songwriting. A review notes:
Ryan Adams will be at The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda on Thursday, December 8. When organizers plan events like these, they can use poster printing to create advertising to bring audiences to the performance.

“Adams is a songwriter who’s presumptuous in the best sense of the word: He understands that roots music, or whatever you call it . . . remains a living, breathing thing.”
