What's Happening in Bethesda, MD…

Popular event returns to Bethesda

For the 31st time, Bethesda residents will be able to enjoy live entertainment as they sample some of the best food local restaurants have to offer.

The 31st annual Taste of Bethesda will feature live entertainment on five stages, tastings from local restaurants, and a kids’ activity area. Over 35 restaurants have already signed up to participate. These include the Spanish Diner, which will be serving gazpacho and paella; Matchbox, which offers sangria, arancini, and tacos made with spicy tuna tartare; Hawkers Asian Street Food, with fried rice and chicken skewers; and the Bethesda Curry Kitchen, which will have wine and beer as well as butter chicken and samosas.

The entertainment promises to be as varied as the food. Among the performers are Furia Flamenca, the Culkin School of Irish Dance, Black Masala, Wes Tucker & The Skillets, and Soul in Motion. With so many vendors taking part in the event, organizers can help attendees by using flyer printing to create handouts listing the participating entertainers and restaurants.

The Taste of Bethesda is set for October 1, along Auburn, Del Ray, Cordell, St. Elmo, and Norfolk Avenues in the Woodmont Triangle area of the city. Admission to the event itself is free, but taste tickets are sold for $5 for a bundle of four. Each serving of food costs between one and four tickets, and restaurants will be serving between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. No tickets will be sold after 3:30 pm.
