What's Happening in Bethesda, MD…

New ramen restaurant coming to Bethesda

Fans of the classic dish of ramen will have a chance to try it again when Jinya Ramen Bar opens a location in Bethesda.

Jinya just opened a storefront on Logan Circle in Washington, D.C., and recently signed a lease to open another store in Bethesda.

The noodle restaurant, which is a chain, will open in the Pike & Rose complex, occupying a 2,500 square-foot space on Prose Street. The Bethesda spot will be the third location in the region of the nation's capital—in addition to the restaurant on Logan Square, Jinya's flagship location opened about a year ago in the Mosaic District in Northern Virginia.

The restaurant's specialty is Tonkotsu ramen, a slow-simmered pork dish that cooks for hours and offers diners a choice of as many as 25 toppings. There are non-ramen dishes on the menu too, including rice bowls, quinoa salads, and small plates.

Jinya has over 20 locations in Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Canada. In general, according to owner Sam Shoja, the Northern Virginia area is a major target market for the restaurant chain. The Bethesda restaurant should open by mid-2018.

Operators of stores like this can welcome new customers, and encourage them to return, by passing out promotional products, such as custom pens, during the early days of operations.
