New casual dining spot opening in Bethesda
Bethesda diners looking for an affordable, friendly place to eat will have a new dining destination, when Not Your Average Joe's opens a Bethesda branch later this month.
The restaurant, which is based in New England, is known for its chef-driven menu. It was founded in Dartmouth, Massachusetts by Steve Silverstein, who was unable to find a reasonably-priced restaurant with good food and great service in the area so set about creating his own eatery.
The first Not Your Average Joe's opened its doors in 1994 and in the years since, the chain has grown to include more than 22 locations in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Rhode Island.
The new location will comprise more than 7,000 square feet and features an open kitchen concept, and a large seating area and bar. There is room for 200 diners inside, and another 75 on the outdoor patio.
The Bethesda menu will be inspired by whatever is fresh and in season, and will offer classic dishes like New York strip steak, as well as more unusual fare, such as BBQ pork tenderloin done Korean style.
The new restaurant also means jobs, as it expects to hire over 100 residents to work at this location.
Joe's opens July 13, and restaurant management could work with a banner printing company to create a colorful flag to hang to celebrate the occasion.
