What's Happening in Bethesda, MD…

Iconic folk-rock group comes to Bethesda

One of the biggest bands of all time will be coming to Bethesda in the new year.

America has been packing the houses they play since the 1970s, performing hits like “Sister Golden Hair” and the classic “A Horse with No Name.” Long-time fans and newcomers alike are delighted to rock out with them.

America was founded by Dan Peek, Dewey Bunnell, and Gerry Beckley in 1970 in London. They were sons of US Air Force personnel who were stationed in the city, and began performing shortly after they graduated from high school. They gained popularity quickly, and were known for their folk-rock sound, and close harmonies. They enjoyed a string of hits, both singles and albums, with titles like “Lonely People” and the iconic “Ventura Highway.” In 1972, America won a Grammy as Best New Musical Artist.

The band released an album almost every year from 1971 until 1984, then took a break until 1994. The pace slowed then, and between 1994 and 2015 they released six albums.

A review says:

“The concert was exceptional. The band has not missed a lick in 42 years, which is how long it has taken me to finally see my favorite band.”

America will be at the Music Center at Remonstrate in North Bethesda at 8:00 pm on January 28, 2021. Poster printing is an effective means of advertising, and is often used to publicize this type of event.
