Golfing fundraiser set for Bethesda
An event is coming up that honors an exceptional person and raises money at the same time.
The Erik S. Kristensen Scholarship Fund has organized Klassic2020 - The Thirteenth Annual Kristensen Klassic, a golf tournament that honors the memory of Lieutenant Commander Erik S. Kristensen, and raises money for students at Gonzaga College High School who come from military families.
Kristensen was graduated from Gonzaga, went on to Phillips Academy, and then to the U.S. Naval Academy, where he graduated in 1995 and was commissioned an ensign. He served aboard the USS Chandler, homeported in Everett, Washington, and returned to the academy to teach. He then moved on to serving as a Navy SEAL, and was lost in action in 2005.
Friends and family members established the tournament in Kristensen's name, with the proceeds going to help students at Gonzaga. At the school, Kristensen was outstanding in academic fields as well as on the playing field, was a member of the band, and known for his warm sense of humor. The Gonzaga motto is “A Man for Others,” and Kristensen embodied this quality.
Paid attendees may request to be placed with friends in foursomes. However, if an attendee pays but is not part of a group, the tournament will place the registrant where it sees fit to do so.
The golf tournament is set for September 28, at 2.00 pm, at Kenwood Country Club in Bethesda. Brochure printing can provide programs for events like this.
