Film festival to be held in Bethesda

A film festival for women by women is coming to Bethesda.

LUNAFEST is hosted by Girls on the Run of Montgomery County, a non-profit organization that uses evidence-based programs to help girls build their kindness, confidence, and skills in decision making. Lively lessons help girls recognize the connection between emotional and physical health, and instill vital life skills. Discussions and physical activities are guided by trained coaches to help girls learn healthy, lifelong habits, and build physical, emotional, and social skills. The goal is to prepare young women for a world that is increasingly uncertain.

The film festival tours naturally, presenting award-winning short films that have been made by, about, and for women. Proceeds from the event, which includes a raffle, go to Girls on the Run Montgomery County. Organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create programs.

Tickets are $45 for a VIP package that includes a tote, a sweet, three raffle tickets, a drink ticket, and preferred seating; $30 for General Admission that includes a treat, one raffle ticket, and a drink ticket; and $25 for health care professionals, coaches, and students, which includes a sweet, raffle ticket, and drink ticket.

LUNAFEST will be held at the Suburban Hospital Auditorium, which requires that everyone be masked. The doors open and happy hour begins at 6.30 pm, with the films beginning at 7.00 pm. The showings run approximately 90 minutes, and the event ends at 8.30 pm. The date for the festival is February 2.
