What's Happening in Bethesda, MD…

Bethesda women to participate in 5K

Women from Bethesda and neighboring communities will soon be turning out to participate in a fun-filled event for runners and walkers.

Later this month, the Montgomery County Road Runners Club will be hosting the Run for Roses 5K in nearby Wheaton. Demand for banner printing is likely to be on the rise as organizers get ready for the day of the occasion.

The 5K will be open to females of all abilities and ages. Participants will meet at Wheaton Regional Park and make their way around Brookside Gardens before reaching the finish line. The course will be paved for the most part, and attendees will be free to run, walk, or do a combination of both. Every runner or walker who completes the course will receive a rose and a certificate. The top three contenders in each age group will earn additional awards.

Before the main event kicks off, boys and girls under the age of 12 will have a chance to participate in races of their own. They will be able to choose between a quarter-mile course or half-mile course. Each child will receive a ribbon and a sweet treat.

Run for Roses will take place on Saturday, June 15. The children's races will begin at 7:45 am, while the 5K will start at 8:00 am. Adult participants will need to pre-register for a fee, and attendees will also be able to purchase T-shirts before the event.
