Bethesda hotel completes renovations

The iconic Hyatt Regency Bethesda, which has been a landmark in the city’s downtown for over 30 years, recently announced it has finished a comprehensive renovation worth $37m.

The work encompassed event spaces, meeting rooms, the hotel’s façade, the lobby, and 390 of its guest rooms. In addition, a new event space, The Rooftop Downtown Bethesda, was added.

Gensler, a global architecture, planning, and design firm, worked with the hotel on the renovations. It began with a neutral palette featuring warm greys, which it used throughout the property. It added wood accents in contemporary styles to complete the sophisticated transformation. Gensler’s design director, Carolyn Ament, said the design was inspired by the Potomac River, which is nearby.

The Meridian Group owns the hotel, and Meridian’s managing director and co-founder, Bruce Lane, said he believes the renovation will make the Hyatt the top hotel in the area. He cited its location and the new finishes as factors that will bring in discerning guests. He also noted presence of the Daily Grill, Morton’s Steakhouse, and a 2,600-square-foot Starbucks among the pull factors.

In late Spring 2018, the Hyatt will host an official party to celebrate the renovations, and to welcome retailers to the property.

Projects like this can benefit if management works with a brochure printing company to create an illustrated brochure highlighting the new amenities.
