Track work on part of the RailLink may cause some disruption for Baltimore commuters for a short time.

Erosion of parts of LightRail track were found near Cold Spring Lane, requiring repair that started recently, and will continue for an estimated three weeks, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA). The track work will require the Light RailLink system be partially suspended between North Avenue and Lutherville. During the repair period, a free bus service is available to passengers, and will make stops at all locations impacted by the closure.

Work is also continuing to repair a break in the water main close to Howard and Pratt Streets. The break affected RailLink trains between the North Avenue and Camden stops. This repair effort is being handled by the Baltimore City Department of Public Works.

Kevin Quinn, the administrator for MDOT MTA, said the agency's first priority is riders' safety, which is why they are working as quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly as possible.

MDOT MTA is also using this downtime for additional repairs, including replacing pedestrian walkways at the Woodberry, Mt. Washington, and Falls Road stops. Tracks will also be replaced at Woodberry. Each stop will have Transit Ambassadors to help people plan their trip, and signage will be posted. Poster printing can be used to help create signage for projects like this.
