Annual startup business seminar returns to Baltimore

The University of Baltimore is slated to host a business symposium specifically designed for the younger entrepreneurial community.

The 14th Annual Rise to the Challenge Pitch Competition is open to all students currently attending the University of Baltimore. However, alumni who graduated after 2015 are equally encouraged to participate. Those who currently own a business, or who might simply wish to pitch an interesting idea, are all welcome. It is also possible to create teams of up to five individuals when presenting a collaborative effort.

Each contestant, or team, will need to describe their business idea to a panel of judges. The panel can then select the most promising venture. The winner may then access up to $30,000 in seed money, which may help them obtain the liquidity needed to pursue a professional venture.

Business-oriented seminars associated with onsite networking can often be used as a means to connect with like-minded professionals. From distributing Promotional Products to exchanging email addresses, participants have a number of options at their disposal.

The final judging of the 2026 Rise to the Challenge Pitch Competition is taking place on Wednesday, May 6 between 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM. This event will be hosted by the Merrick School of Business located at 11 West Mt. Royal Avenue. Applicants are not required to pay any type of entry fee.
