The Schola Cooking School in Baltimore will be holding a cooking course in January that focuses on the Chesapeake Bay.
The Cuisine of the Chesapeake Bay is a cooking experience where guests will prepare and taste multiple dishes. During the lesson, instructors will show the class how to properly shuck fresh oysters and roast rockfish. Participants also get to create a dish from Maryland's Way: The Hammond-Harwood House Cookbook. Students should put on closed-toed shoes for the course and are permitted to bring their own alcohol to the experience.
The Schola Cooking School offers several classes for both seasoned chefs and beginners, covering topics like pasta making, holiday brunch recipes, and cooking techniques. The instructors at the academy are Amy von Lange and Jerry Pellegrino, who have over 25 years of experience with cooking between them. The school also hosts date nights, field trips to the Baltimore City Farmers Market, and an annual baking series in the fall. Those who teach culinary classes may use brochure printing to provide guests with take-home recipes.
The cooking lesson will be held on Saturday, January 22, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. General admission for the class is $85 per student. No refunds are offered for the course, and tipping is not required. The cooking school will provide an apron to all participants during the activity.
