Baltimore announces its seasonal concerts

Bach in Baltimore will be performing a series of concerts throughout Baltimore, and recently announced its schedule for the coming season.

The concerts consist of a 45-voice choir, a full orchestra, over 20 soloists, and student choirs from local schools who perform as part of the Student Voice Exchange Choir Program. The concerts take place in such locations as Towson, Inner Harbor Baltimore, and Ellicott City.

Bach in Baltimore has been performing the works of Johann Sebastian Bach for 31 years. According to Maestro and Music Director T. Herbert Dimmock, the upcoming season has been titled ‘Baroque Greatest Hits’, and encompasses more than just Bach. Although the group will perform the ‘B Minor Mass’ by Bach, it will also offer Handel's ‘Messiah.’

Orchestral works are on the schedule, including Tafelmusic II by Telemann, and various concerti and orchestral suites by Vivaldi, Handel, Albinoni, and of course, Bach. His classic ‘Brandenburg Concerto No. 5’ is on the list, as is his ‘Air on a G String.’

The season centers on Baroque masterpieces, but a concert of Joseph Haydn's works is scheduled; Haydn is often considered to be the “father of the symphony.” Living composers' works will also be featured throughout the year. Organizers of events like this series can use poster printing to generate publicity.

The season comprises 11 concerts taking place from October 2019 to June 2020. Tickets are on sale now at BachinBaltimore.org, with early bird pricing in effect until June 2.
