New Bedford Research and Robotics (NBRR) is now open on Purchase Street, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony carried out by a robot, appropriately.
NBRR is a non-profit collaborative organization that performs research and develops technology, focusing on robotics, artificial intelligence, marine technology, machine learning, and data science. Mark Parsons, founder and executive director of NBRR, spent 24 years in Brooklyn where he founded the Consortium for Research and Robotics. In 2022, Parsons decided to return to his hometown of New Bedford to create NBRR.
NBRR is planning to carry out major renovations to what was once the Glaser Glass building on Purchase Street. This work will create bay doors that will make its collaboration space and robotics projects visible to the public.
Such innovative organizations can also promote their efforts and benefits for a city with banner printing.
Mayor Jon Mitchell said that Mark Parsons established an innovative robotics program in New York City and is now doing the same in New Bedford. Mitchell expressed his thrill that Parsons is part of the effort to lead innovation in the city.
Parsons, founder and executive director of NBRR, said that his organization is promoting economic health and social benefits by making access to such state-of-the-art technologies as robotics available to all. He added that his organization hopes to create future employment opportunities through upskilling, creativity, and entrepreneurial endeavors.
