Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick has opened its trails to visitors and will be offerings several programs next month.
Such programs are often promoted throughout the community with display and poster printing.
The trails are opened from dawn until dusk. There are nine miles of scenic walking trails that traverse the woods and fields along the Charles River. There is also a boardwalk along Indian Brook and a trail accessible by wheelchair that is one-quarter mile long.
The Sanctuary will be featuring a series of outdoor explorations on Friday evenings in July. These will be family-oriented events, suitable for children between the ages of 6 and 16. The first one listens for the songs of katydids and frogs and will be on Friday, July 3. The second one looks for flashing fireflies and will be on Friday, July 17, while the third will search for bats on Friday, July 31. All events run from 7:30 to 9:00 pm.
Fun with Dragons and Butterflies will be presented by Joy Marzolf, a naturalist and photographer, who will discuss butterflies, damselflies, and dragonflies. This program is also oriented for the family and will be on Sunday, July 5 from 1:00 to 2:15 pm. It will be followed by a program on the same topic for adults only from 2:30 to 4:00 pm.
