What's Happening in Natick, MA…

Natick area college to convert residence hall into apartments

A residence hall that has been underutilized on the outskirts of the campus of Framingham State University (FSU) close to Route 9 will be converted into low-cost academic apartments.

Linsley Hall, a residence hall that is no longer put to use during the academic year, will be converted into 32 apartments. These will be made available to staff, faculty, and graduate students. This may be of benefit to those who are currently living in nearby Natick and would prefer to live on campus in term time.

The Fair Share Funding program of the state is providing funds of $6.6 million to FSU for this project. This funding will initially be used to convert the residence hall into 20 studio apartments, six apartments with three bedrooms, and six apartments with two bedrooms. The leases will be both short and long term.

Such projects can benefit from brochure printing to inform appropriate people of such available opportunities.

Nancy S. Niemi, president of FSU, said:

“Many new faculty and other employees who are transitioning to this area need a temporary place to stay as they look for housing. This project will allow us to offer them access to newly renovated apartments, available at under-market prices.”

Construction on the project is expected to begin next winter and it is hoped the renovations will complete in the spring 2027.
