United Way helps those in need for Thanksgiving holiday

The Pearl Street Cupboard and Café of the United Way of Tri-County in Framingham will be helping those in need to a Thanksgiving meal.

Through the Feed a Family for $50 program, people from Framingham and nearby Natick can donate $50 to the organization. This money will be able to provide up to seven bags of groceries filled with a turkey, stuffing, fresh vegetables, and dessert.

Paul Mina, President and CEO of United Way Tri-County, said that food is a major expense for many families and can create a great deal of stress during the holiday season. This program provides a meal for Thanksgiving, but moreover a way that families can come together and create traditions and memories for many years, he added.

Mina said that last year, the Café gave away 2.3 million pounds of food and not a single family has ever been turned down.

Those who are seeking help this holiday season need to register for the program no later than today, November 16. Volunteers will then be at The Pearl Street Cupboard and Café on Tuesday, November 21 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm to distribute the holiday groceries.

Poster printing companies can be hired to create posters that can be displayed in key locations in Framingham, Natick, and other communities so that those in need will know where they can get these groceries for the special holiday.
