What was once the Sear’s store at the Natick Mall is to become a new live gaming experience.
The space which is 48,000 square feet will have multiple types of live gaming along with a restaurant and taproom that may be operated by Night Shift Brewing based in Everett. To be called Level 99, the space will feature 43 different rooms and there will be a different type of experience gaming experience in each room such that one room might be an escape room while another has a ninja-warrior type challenge.
Matt DuPlessie, co-founder of Level 99, said that these will be real-life experiences, not on a screen or virtual reality, but be a physical set of challenges. DuPlessie has a background in live gaming, having worked at Disney parks in Florida and founded 5 Wits in 2003 which now has gaming center in Massachusetts, Virginia, and New York.
The Natick Mall was selected for the space and the demographics in the area. Although geared for those between the ages of 21 and 39, it will be opened to people of all ages. Banner printing can be used at such sites to advertise and promote such experiences to everyone in the community.
Level 99 will not be an arcade-type of experience in that it is designed for groups of between two and six people and not large crowds. It is expected to be operational by spring of next year.
