Outdoor mosaic to enhance cultural center of Natick
An outdoor mosaic panel has been designed by Carol Krentzman and Amy Steinmetz and will be installed on the Fair & Yeager Insurance in Natick Center on Court Street.
Krentzman created six arched mosaic panels in 2013 on Court Street and this mosaic, which is 12 feet by 4.5 feet in size, will add to these pieces and further enhance the attractiveness of the Natick Center Cultural District by adding to the public art in the town.
The mosaic will be created during a Mosaic Marathon that will last 60 hours in October. Members of the New England Mosaic Society and local artists will join Krentzman to work on the project. The public is also invited to the Marathon to visit the studio, talk with the artists, and observe how a mosaic is built one piece at a time. The Marathon will take place the week of October 13 through October 19.
Progress photos of the mosaic will be posted on the web. The Marathon will be followed by the annual Natick Artists Open Studios weekend, during which time a section of the mosaic will be on display at Krentzman’s location at the Open Studios.
Poster printing companies can be hired to create displays throughout the town so that people will become aware of such special events and their contribution to the community.
