Jim Caimano, a former special agent in the Boston bureau of the FBI, will join the Natick School District as its first director of security and safety.
In this role, Caimano will coordinate planning for emergency management, focus on school security, and act as the liaison between the Police Department, the Natick Public Schools (NPS), technology services, and the town’s Facilities Department.

Dr. Anna Nolin, superintendent of the Natick Public Schools, said that Caimano has the expertise and knowledge that will benefit the security and safety needs of the town and NPS. Caimano will also be auditing the schools in the district for the purpose of assessing school processes so that a plan can be created for improving security over time. Nolin added that he will also be working on cybersecurity issues to prevent hacking and other online attacks with the NPS system.
This position, which will last for two years, is funded by a federal grant from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services of the United States Department of Justice, which focuses on policing in the community and keeping schools in the community safe. Nolin said the grant was a joint effort of the Police Department and the NPS.
