New principal appointed at high school in Natick
A new principal has been selected for Natick High School.
Josepha Blocker, interim principal at Newton South High School and dean of its Cutler House, will be replacing Brian Harrigan who left a year ago to become head of the Francis Parker Charter School in Devens. The interim principal was Jason Hoye, dean of students at Natick High School.
Announcements of such important appointments are often made throughout a community with the use of flyer printing services.
The search process for the new principal included interviews that were both virtual and in-person with a committee that was made up of a member of the school committee, students, parents, and staff members. There was also a community forum with parents and other members of the community.
Blocker was a computer science and math teacher at Newton North High School since she began her career in education in 2002. She was also an assistant housemaster, a class adviser, and ran a professional development program on how technology can be used to support the teaching of math for the mathematics department. She became dean of students at Cambridge Rindge and Latin in 2007 and returned to Newton in 2008 to become the dean of the Cutler House at Newton South High School.
Superintendent of Schools Anna Nolin said that Blocker has extensive instructional experience and has worked in addressing achievement gaps, a skill which will strengthen Natick High School.
