The Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Natick, in association with Mass Audubon Education, will be holding a workshop on nature writing beginning next month.
This workshop will consist of two classes that will focus on the power of nature writing, and will enable attendees to practice this skill.
Print shops are often hired to create Flyers and mailers that can be sent to the community informing them of such workshops.
A few short essays by contemporary nature writers will be assigned to read prior to the start of the workshop. These will be discussed and analyzed in the first session so that attendees can see what makes these essays successful and the techniques that can be incorporated into each individual’s writing.
Attendees will be assigned another piece to work on before the second session. Discussion in class will center on the writing process and providing positive feedback to attendees as they share their work. There will be time for discussion about the process for those who are interested in having their work published in Journals or magazines. Takeaways from the class will be a list of resources related to nature writing, and how people can further and improve their skills.
The instructor for the workshop will be Kim Hoff, a naturalist and teacher at Arcadia National Park. The class will take place online on two Thursdays – October 1 and October 8 – from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
