Natick unveils plan for resident feedback on street projects

A new tool is now available to residents of Natick as part of its Complete Streets Plan to collect suggestions for future projects.

The Complete Streets Plan is a concept that seeks to develop corridors that can accommodate made modes of transportation from public transit and driving to walking and biking and integrate the needs of many kinds of people including those with disabilities and abutting businesses and residents. The priority for these projects will be on usability and safety.

The Complete Streets Prioritization Tool is an online tool. The use of poster printing around town can be used to inform residents of such projects and how to contribute to them. Visitors to the website will see a map of Natick to which people can add details about the type of the projects in which they are interested. An example would be adding in a detail about a bike lane on Speen Street.

The Complete Streets Plan is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and as the town of Natick participates in the program, it is eligible for construction grants to complete projects. The town develops a list of projects that identifies and prioritizes potential projects that can be funded through the program. The town received its first set of funds in 2016 and it is recommended by state officials to update its request every five years.
