Natick to receive special funds from the state

The state legislature has passed a budget that will give $4.4 million in unrestricted government aid and $12.2 million in Chapter 70 funding for the public schools in Natick.

More information about such funding for residents of a town is often provided with flyer printing.

These funds will be used for several initiatives in the town. One of them is an amount of $30,000 for the Veterans Oral History Project at the Morse Institute Library. Another $25,000 will go to the Natick 180 Coalition, an organization that provides substance addiction and mental health resources to those who need them.

The amount of $50,000 will be going to A Place to Turn, which is an emergency food pantry that serves 20 communities in the MetroWest. The funds will go towards improvements in its services and towards an addition of 500 square feet to its existing 1,200 square foot facility for freezers and refrigerators and reconfiguration of the setup of the food pantry.

The town of Natick will be receiving $100,000 for costs associated with development and implementation of an economic development plan for West Natick. Another $100,000 will go towards Main Street in Natick Center to create a design study which will also engage the community.

Lastly, another $500,000 has been allocated to Natick and several other communities in the MetroWest region for addressing mental health needs in schools.
