Natick to hold special events to honor veterans

The 100th anniversary of the end of World War I is being celebrated by the Department of Veteran Services with the Natick Veterans Council, who together are putting on a number of special events.

The celebrations will begin with a parade at 9:30 am starting from Morse’s’ Tavern. Among the participants in the parade are members of the fire and police departments of Natick, including the Officer of the Day, Patrick Young; the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts; various elected officials; and a color guard.

This will be followed by services in front of the library at 10:20 am. Warren Griffin, president of the Natick Veterans Council, will speak after the introduction and invocation. Other speakers planned are Representative David Linsky, the Johnson School Peace Keepers, and the Officer of the Day.

The celebrations will end with a hot and cold brunch at the Natick Elks, beginning at 12:30 pm. There will be a reading of those veterans from Natick who served in various wars, with an honor roll for those who served in Vietnam.

All events will take place on Sunday, November 11. A spokesperson for the events said that this special anniversary warrants having the parade and the Veterans Day services that are always held, as well as a second ceremony at the Natick Elks.

Events like this often use poster printing to promote themselves.
