Natick to celebrate Indian dance and culture

The annual Holi Festival will be held in Natick Center next month.

This is a festival to celebrate spring that is celebrated in the subcontinent of India. It is also known as the festival of love or the festival of colors. Poster or flyer printing is often used to promote such special events throughout a community.

This festival will feature an exciting series of activities. There will be Bollywood music for dancing to bring cultural vibrancy and an extra spark of joy to the community. The goal is to introduce those not familiar with the Indian culture of its richness, vibrancy, and energy while others will enjoy a sense of home.

The festival will start with a flashmob to set the tone for the entire celebrations. There will be free practice sessions organized by Purnima Thakre in the weeks before the festival as well as tutorial videos for those who are not able to attend the sessions.

This will be followed by five to six dances to popular Holi songs in different Indian languages. DJ Mahesh will keep the festival and dancing going throughout the afternoon.

The Holi Festival will take place in the parking lot of the Middlesex Savings Bank along Washington Street and Route 135 on Saturday May 17 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend the festival.
