Natick to award funds for cultural activities

Proposals for grants are currently being accepted by the Natick Cultural Council (NCC).

Schools, organizations, and individuals can apply for these grants, which support science, arts, and humanities projects and cultural activities in the community. These can be both in person and virtual, and can include festivals, field trips, public art, exhibits, lectures, workshops, performances in schools, and short-term artist residencies.

The Council will consider all applications, but preference will be given to organizations and artists from Natick that provide benefit to the community. The Council will also prioritize those who are individuals or smaller groups, first-time applicants, and those who have not received funding in the past three years. More information about criteria for such awards is often provided with flyer printing.

The NCC is one of the 329 local cultural councils serving the towns and cities in Massachusetts. The program of local cultural councils supports thousands of projects based in their respective communities in the humanities, arts, and sciences every year. The Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, is provided with an annual appropriation by the state legislature and then allocates funds to each community. Last year, the NCC was awarded $14,300 in grant funding.

Applications are due by Wednesday, October 16 and can be submitted online. Additional materials can be mailed to the NCC at Town Hall.
