Natick school one of six to receive books

About 10,000 Books were recently given to the MetroWest YMCA as part of its after school program, School’s Out, for the specific initiative called ‘10,000 Adventures’.

The Johnson Elementary School in Natick was one recipient of the Books, as were two elementary schools in Framingham, two in Westborough, and one in Maynard.

The MetroWest area of Boston includes Natick, along with Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Marlborough, Southborough, Wayland, Wellesley, and Weston.

The nonprofit First Book organizes the initiative and Middlesex Savings Bank funds the program. Part of the belief of the Bank is that all children should be able to access Books so that they can have a lifelong love of reading.

According to executive vice president and chief community banking officer of Middlesex Savings Bank, Dana Neshe, the Bank can contribute to the community in special and unique ways, as it is independent. She adds that it has always supported literacy and the love of reading in the area by giving grants to libraries or through reading programs, so it was natural for the Bank to get involved when it was known there was an opportunity to provide 10,000 Books to students and school libraries in the local area.

The Bank and First Book may also be working together on booklet printing to Print helpful materials about the program and its benefits for the students.
