Natick robotics team makes it to world championship

The State Championship of the FIRST Lego League was recently held at Natick High School at which 35 robotics teams from all over the state participated, and it saw a local team excel.

The LightSpeed Robotics team from Natick High School advanced to the World Championship, along with three other winners at the championship.

The LightSpeed Robotics team started competing just this year. The team is composed of three members and they have been working many hours and made many sacrifices to be on the team.

However, the work of the team continues until the World Championship, during which time they will work to perfect their robot. The team captain, Adam Abji, said that the team is looking to improve it overall and focus on its speed.

Gopa Mukherjee, team mom and manager, added that there are other challenges which the team faces. There is a competition entrance fee of $2,000, as well as flights and hotels. She is looking for corporate sponsorships to help defray these costs and is determined that the team will be successful in this area. Flyer printing is one approach to asking for sponsorships and other donations to help pay the expenses for such competitions.

The World Championship will be held on April 24 in Detroit, where 160 teams from all over the world will meet for a four-day competition.
